The Apple watch might be considered as being one of the best wearable devices available at the moment, but we’re not entirely sure that it’s worth the hefty price tag that comes attached. With prices being anything from around £400 onwards (depending on the model), we don’t think that our need for a smartwatch is that big.

However, for those who still hanker after an internet based watch, you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of alternatives. These are just a selection of some of the best ones available on the market right now.

Pebble Time

This watch has been praised by a lot of people for its ability to do a few things very well, instead of being able to do a lot of things badly. It’s also been praised for its long battery life, waterproof frame and brilliant music controls.

It doesn’t have a touch screen (like a lot of others), but is instead controlled by four buttons. The lack of touch screen is part of the reason for why the battery can last up to 7 days. It also doesn’t include an OLED screen like Apple watches, but uses a colour e-paper display instead.

It also will only cost you around £180.

Asus ZenWatch

Believed to be a worthy opponent for the Apple Watch, the ZenWatch has been praised for being stylish and attractive.

It has 14 custom faces, a 1.63 inch Gorilla Glass 3-covered screen and a built in heart rate sensor.  It’s described as being comfortable to wear, as well as working efficiently with a pretty good battery life.

It allows you to view incoming calls and notifications, as well as getting answers to spoken questions without having to use your phone. You can also read and send texts and messages on social media.

Prices start from around £100 depending on the model.

Motorola Moto 360

For a brand that is referred to as being a few steps behind, Motorola’s latest input in the world of interactive watches has been a brilliant one. It has an attractive traditional watch face that runs on the Google Android operating system. The resolution display is 320×290, and is both tough and waterproof.

You can use the watch to text, call, tweet, and check emails – anything that you would normally do on your phone. It’s comfortable to wear and offers a lot of features that rivals its competition.

It will set you back around £150.
