Here at Martins of Glasgow, we appreciate great watch design, and like to keep up to date with all the latest news from the world of watches. So with the New Year now in full swing, here we take a quick look at some of the most anticipated upcoming watches to watch out for in 2015.

Piaget Altiplano Chronograph

Piaget is world renowned for its luxury timepieces which are made using the highest quality craftsmanship to produce some truly beautiful and uniquely slender designs. The latest addition to the Piaget collection is the new ultra thin Piaget Altiplano Chronograph which is only 8.2mm thick. As such, the Altiplano Chronograph is a pretty impressive technical achievement, and apparently required a rethink of every component in order to reduce the watches size. The outside of the watch features a beautifully simple aesthetic, and all in all, the watch is the perfect example of how less really can be more.

Jager Le-Coultre Master Calendar

This new unique timepiece from master watchmakers Jager Le-Coultre is a watch with some rather intriguing origins. The timepiece features a dial made from an incredibly rare meteorite stone, sourced from a meteorite discovered in Sweden, though its true origins are thought to be an asteroid belt located somewhere between Jupiter and Mars. Beyond this rather unique feature, the watch also has an undeniably elegant and well balanced design, and includes an array of fantastic features including an annual calendar and moon phase indicator. The watch is very similar to the previous Master Calendar model, which can be viewed below.

Cartier Crash Skelton

2015 will also see Cartier unveil their new Crash Skeleton timepiece, an updated version of the original iconic Crash watch, notable for its unique asymmetric and surrealist design. Originally introduced back in 1967, the story goes that the Crash watch was inspired by a timepiece damaged in a car accident. This new reimagining of the original watch features a skeletonised dial, which reveals the beautiful movement underneath and is set to be a new classic in its own right.
